Christian J. Hessler
BSc, MSc, MCCEO and Chief Scientist
Christian Hessler is the inventor of Wavelution™ and LiveEnsure™. He is both the CEO of Mast and CTO of Palm Tree Technology plc in London, where he designed and developed the innovative ID Insure™ and Live Ensure™ security systems. Christian spent the previous years at Sun Microsystems, where he was a Sr. Staff Engineer/Architect specializing in enterprise agile development. A former senior engineer for CitySearch, Data Transit International and Computer Associates, he was also an IT officer for online banking with First American National Bank and technology director for a major healthcare organization. An accomplished technology author and digital media consultant with O'Reilly, Prentice Hall and Deitel, Christian holds a BSc from Vanderbilt University, an MSc in Computer Science and Information Technology from Regis University, and a MC in Music and Film Scoring/Orchestration from Berklee College of Music. He is currently conducting post-graduate studies at Harvard University, focused on IT and digital media technology arts and sciences, and UCLA, in the areas of technical management and innovation development.
His research interests and technical expertise lie in multimedia/audio, e-commerce, digital security, enterprise development, mobile technologies and disruptive Web 2.0+ IP. In addition to leading the Mast technical vision, Christian belongs to numerous standards bodies, including the iXMF working group, defining the next generation standards for media compression, interactive audio and digital security. He has also studied engineering, computer science, digital media, IP law and music at Stanford, UCLA, NYU, MTSU, Apple, Sun, Digidesign, THX, Yamaha, Cisco and Microsoft, and is an active member of IEEE, ASCAP, NARAS, SMTPE, SCL, IGDA, OATH, OWASP, GANG, BBQ, IASIG, TED, AMPAlliance, Agile Alliance and the AES.
Marc Loy
BSc, MScCTO and Director of Engineering
Marc designs and produces software, training and multimedia products for a variety of companies including Sun Microsystems, VERITAS, Symantec, O'Reilly Media, and McGraw-Hill. He has worked with Java and other Internet technologies from their earliest days as a developer and programmer specializing in user interface design and is the author the definitive Java Swing UI textbook. He continues to use his UI skills in the post-production media world developing DVDs ranging from simple corporate showcases to complex, interactive games. He keeps his hands in the production side of the house working with short-subject and independent filmmakers as well.
His Java and media talents have found a great marriage in the recent worlds of "micro" environments like mobile phones and the emerging Blu-ray interactive discs. Emerging technologies are providing (and users are demanding) richer environments from their gadgets. Keeping that experience smooth and friendly is an art, but he has the science to back it up. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from University of Southern California and an MSc from the University of Wisconsin.
Michael Key
BScArchitect, Lead Developer: Security
Mike is an accomplished developer and architect with experience in creating innovative mobile technologies for companies such as Sun Microsystems, MCI Telecommunications, and several startup companies. Mike has a well rounded technology background with extensive knowledge of hardware, firmware, and software solutions. Mike has remained active in technology education by providing consulting and educational services to companies and students in various aspects of technology including UNIX skills, Java, Spring, and service-based architectures. Mike is currently working in the areas of GIS, location-based services and security. He holds a BSc in computer science from the University of Colorado.
